Whatever your reason is for asking someone for money, whether it's your parents to help you pay for a New Haven or London home security system for your house, your girlfriend to help pay off the telephone bill, or the bank for a mortgage so you can buy your dream house, it will always be hard. Asking for a loan is always a nerve-racking thing. Just because you need the money doesn't mean you'll always be given the money.
In some cases asking for a loan is your only viable route. That's especially the case if you're going to be starting a new business selling high temperature blankets or repairing computers. You're going to need some sort of start-up capital to fund your venture and if you can't raise all the funds on your own you're going to need to ask for a loan.
You can either ask your parents, family members, or really close friends for some investment money that you plan on paying them back once your Toronto catering or Madison business gets off the ground. They may say yes but they could very easily say no. You just never know. You're other alternative when it comes to getting a loan is to ask the bank. Draw up a professional looking business plan that covers everything about your business such as cost, what you'll be selling, the services you'll be providing, number of staff, expenses, five year plan, etc.
If you're going to be asking anyone, be it your parents or the bank, for a loan to open your business selling aquarium fish foods you better be prepared to show them how their money will be used and your plan for paying them back. Any business asking for a loan needs to provide information about the business and how they will be making money and turning it into a viable business. No one wants to give out a loan if they don't think their money will be used properly or for something that might end up becoming a money pit. It doesn't matter if your business will be selling industrial water treatment chemicals or organic food, it has to show promise and have potential to be a moneymaker.
You may not want to ask for a loan but as a new business owner it might just be your only hope. Whatever way you go we wish you the best of luck! |
